1st(?) Popular Bookmark! Of course, on femme-friendly Kirtsy!

Tuesday, 10 June 2008

Warning: this post could get link heavy, so we’ve instead made it very somewhat light lighter on the clickables. You know how to use the web though, right?! ;-) *
Sharp Byte’s post about nerds even being politically swayed by fashion is #2 for the politics category on Kirtsy. Go vote for us some more!!

Actually, it’s just the biggest recent success from newly re-started Sharp Byte, which has some lovin’ across the green and activism sites with its post about Apple being green for money, not the environment.

(*Although since this site here is out of date with out-linkage, along with many other things, it might be useful for me to post a link to Sharp Byte’s home page. It just might be. :-))

By the way, thanks to these efforts, which we’ll keep working on with this and other blogs as much as we can, Sharp Byte’s hits/visits have been rising very well! But it’s still small, coming out from hibernation, so we’d love your votes!

Spring Cleaning is in Order - Excuse Us!

Monday, 09 June 2008

Most of our blogs are in need of some spring cleaning, possibly even huge overhauls. Excuse us if you visit a site and see a less-than impressive presentation! (And it’s probably not even -at the moment- due to being in the middle of tidying.)

To-Do List:

  • We’re going to make blogs resemble each other again. They’re going to look more like Shap Byte now does, ‘cept with more ads (no really, that blog currently has one “lonely” Adsense box - enjoy it while it lasts!).
  • Pet-Pet. Needs. Attention. Oh. My. See last bullet point.
  • Except for our blogs that correspond with a business beyond the writing, namely our brands/shops selling stuff, index pages will be blog pages. (This means you, Bag Dream.) Again, see point 1.
  • Top link bars and footer RSS feeds. Because we feel like it.
  • General side-bar toning-down.
  • Google search vs. the default WordPress, which is our blog script, search. We hate their way of sorting (most recent first, plain and final), it just goes against the way a search should be.
  • Some of our blogs are not linked to currently because they’re not updated or are in the middle of such huge makeovers they can’t be really considered public. More blogs to come, I guess that means, and a few to come back.
  • Also some things are not written to currently, but WILL be! Yay.
  • Make LippedMedia.com a better source of network information and promotion/RSS-y-ness.

Expect certain things to get messier before it’s all done. Just a little warning.

Sharp Byte BACK and Topically Bigger: News & Nonsense for Nerdettes

Monday, 09 June 2008

Sharp Byte is back. We put it on pause because every. single. one. of our bloggers we’ve had dealt with the issue of “what to post?” and well, stopped. Pink gadgets only come out so often, and it’s hard to maintain a high level of excitement for laptop cases and such … so it is now a bigger subject more encompassing of the target audience (and writer’s) heart: girly geekdom, nerdettes … it’s not just girl toys now, it’s all things chic geek.

We wanted to wait until we were sure we could maintain this come back before we made it happen, and now here it is!

Just like the phenomenon of the girl nerd, we think the new Sharp Byte is finally here to stay*!

(*Barring the usual silly absences we tend to suffer here.)

Ella Comes OUT of an absense, and so does her blog-sexuality..

Monday, 09 June 2008

Ella’s back writing again (www.kissmestace.com) after a few weeks pause, and lately with posts that touch feminist subjects like Hilary Clinton Fug and Girl Crushes.

More good stuff to come!

New LippedMedia.com Layout Complete!

Saturday, 17 November 2007

Who’s good? Come see if you’re in a feed!

I altered a lot of stuff from a standard WP theme. The new main image took a while to think up (I browsed art online for inspiration). Then there was tweakin’ various sidebar elements, etc. Fun!
Well, this is only yet a beginning, and I must be on to other work!
